Cosmetic Face procedures

Dr. Ricardo L. Rodriguez MD offers multiple plastic surgery procedures for the face in Baltimore, Maryland. All procedures are performed under local or IV anesthesia with Board Certified Anesthesiologists.

  • Brow lift (Forehead lift)

The Brow lift, sometimes referred to as a Forehead lift, is a surgical procedure designed to elevate the brow to a more youthful position relative to the eyelids. Since most people focus on the area of the eyes when talking to you, it can, by itself, make your whole face appear younger. It can be performed endoscopically with only two tiny incisions in your scalp. It requires only 1 week out of work.

  • Facelift (Rhytidectomy)

A Facelift, also called Rhytidectomy, is a plastic surgery procedure which tightens wrinkles and sagging skin on the face and neck. The goal is a natural, refreshed facial appearance which helps you look younger, not ‘done.’ There are several versions of a Facelift and they generally refer to what part of the face is being rejuvenated by lifting and dissecting of the tissues. In addition, structures of the face can be rejuvenated with fat injection.  Types of facelifts include:

  • Facial fillers (Dermal fillers)

Facial fillers, or Dermal fillers, are synthetic injections which fill out wrinkled or uneven areas of the face. While Botox is used to relax muscles in order to soften wrinkles, dermal fillers are used to add volume to *fill in* wrinkled areas. Common facial fillers include…

  • Fat transfer (Fat grafting) to the Face

The terms Fat transfer, Fat injections, and Fat grafting all refer to the process of taking fat from an unwanted area of your body and re-injecting purified adipose fat tissues into another area of your body. The goal of the Facial fat transfer procedure is to add fullness to the area of the face that needs more volume. As we age, the epidermis and dermis thins and the face loses volume. With the face, adipose fat can be transferred to the cheeks, nasolabial folds, jawline, and the lower eye area. This injected fat restores volume, as well as replenishing nutrients and blood supply to the the skin – resulting in a more youthful appearance. A fat transfer is the most natural way to rejuvenate your face.

  • Laser skin resurfacing

Laser resurfacing of the skin is a method whose goal is to make the skin of the face appear younger looking. Generally speaking, the laser creates damage to the top layers of the skin, which signals new cells to be regenerated. Patients from all over the world have contacted me with concerns about laser damage to their face. My opinion is that there are many lasers that can do more harm than good.

  • Lip augmentation (Upper and/or Lower lip)

A Lip augmentation is a procedure which gives you fuller lips and can be performed on the upper lip, lower lip, or both lips. The lip can be augmented with the patient’s own tissues (Fat transfer or Fat injections, biologic tissue fillers (Juvederm or Restylane), or soft synthetic implants (Advanta or SurgiSil). Results with biologic fillers typically last 6-9 months, while synthetic implants and your own fat are permanent solutions.

  • Neck lift (Neck tuck, Lower facelift)

The Neck lift is a surgical procedure designed to give better definition to the neck line. The procedure can diminish unsightly ‘banding’ in the neck, as well as tighten loose skin at the jawline (jowls). The neck lift is performed under monitored IV sedation instead of General anesthesia. My facility uses only board certified anesthesiologists to administer your anesthesia.

  • Otoplasty (Ear pinning)

Otoplasty is ear surgery, sometimes referred to as ‘ear pinning,’ and is often performed to change the shape and/or position of the ears. It can be performed on one ear or both ears. In most cases, ear cartilage is reduced so that the ears appear closer to the head.

Ear surgery can create a better balance and proportion while improving the shape or appearance of the ears. This often has a profound effect on the appearance and self-esteem. Patients who have Otoplasty often feel free to explore new hair styles, and stop wearing hats to hide their ears.

  • Rhinoplasty (Nose job)

Rhinoplasty, often referred to as a nose job, is a reshaping of the nose. When reshaping of the nose only changes the appearance of the tip of the nose it is called tip plasty. Rhinoplasty can also be used to restore breathing through the nose. When the procedure is used to improve both breathing and the appearance of the nose, it is called a septorhinoplasty.

To reduce risks, both types of Rhinoplasty can be performed under monitored IV sedation, instead of General anesthesia. In our outpatient facility in Baltimore, we use only board certified anesthesiologists.
