What is an umbilicoplasty?

An umbilicosplasy is a reshaping of the belly button (navel). It is a procedure that can be performed under local anesthesia in the office. After we make sure that you don't have a hernia in that area, extra skin is trimmed from the naval area. The incision site is hidden within the navel itself so scars are not visible afterwards. Piercing can also be done at the same time. Many would rather have a plastic surgeon pierce their belly button than to have a piercing done in a tattoo parlor. Initially a 'sleeper' stud is placed into the belly button . However, once the area is healed you are free to place any body jewelry that you desire.
