Fraxel Laser
What is the Fraxel Laser?Fraxel Laser is a resurfacing technology for the epidermis layer of the skin which treats wrinkles and sun damaged skin. There are three types of Fraxel Laser treatments:Fraxel Re:fine, Fraxel Re:pair, Fraxel Re:pair. They are basically three levels of intensity at resurfacing the epidermis. What conditions does the Fraxel Laser treat? The Fraxel Laser is most commonly used for skin tightening and mild to moderate wrinkles. It is an alternative to facial surgical options and fillers. However, it can also be used to complement and enhance surgery and/or fillers. The Fraxel also treats sun damage, acne scars, and melasma. How often do I need to do Fraxel treatments?Fraxel Laser treatments usually require multiple treatments. This usually means 2-4 treatments in order to achieve noticable results. How long do treaments take and does Fraxel hurt?Fraxel treatments usually take 20-40 minutes per treatment. Prior to your treatment a topical anesthesic of Lidocaine is applied to the area to be treated. This allows the treatment to be performed with a minimum of discomfort. This topical anesthetic is stronger than Emla, (which is commonly used in Botox), and allows the entire area of the face to be treated without nerve blocks. Additionally, in many patients, Dr. Rodriguez does nerve block injections in addition to the topical pain ointment, so that there is no pain at all. How much does Fraxel cost?Treatments for the Fraxel Laser vary according to the area being treated. Prices range from $500-$1500 per treatment. Laser packages are available for multiple sessions. What should I expect immediately after the Fraxel treatments?Immediately following your treatment, expect the treated area to be red and swollen for 2-5 days. Patients should avoid sun exposure on treated areas between treatments. How soon should I see skin tightening or positive results? Most patients will show skin rejuvenation and skin tightening following the second treatment.
